Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) provides emergency shelter, food, basic needs and wraparound programs for people facing homelessness, hunger and addiction in the community. Located in Saint Paul, UGMTC opened its doors in 1902 and has been feeding, sheltering and offering the hope of Jesus Christ to people in need ever since.

The Clinical Services department interfaces with UGMTC programs to provide intake and diagnostic assessments, case management, consultation and clinical therapeutic services for men, women and children in UGMTC programs. The department delivers services through licensed social workers, mental health professionals, a graduate mental health internship program, and management of a network of community organizations to obtain services and referrals for clients.
PositionSummary
Provides direct clinical services and therapeutic counseling for individuals obtaining services in UGMTC programs with limited supervision in alignment with UGMTC’s mission, vision, values and goals.
Duties and Responsibilities- Exercises independent professional and ethical judgment in providing direct clinical services, including assessment, therapeutic counseling, and consultation to individuals and groups in alignment with UGMTC’s mission, values and policies.
- Assists Assistant Clinical Director in the implementation of program policy and procedures consistent with the clinical and ethical standards of the profession.
- Develops curriculum and facilitates psycho-educational groups.
- Conducts client clinical intakes and diagnostic assessments as needed; develops and tracks treatment plans; provides consultation and referral to appropriate outside mental health and human service agencies.
- Uses established assessment/case management methodology and practices to establish and monitor client goals and treatment plans; ensures client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA privacy regulations, and other applicable local and federal laws.
- Updates client progress and therapy notes in Case Worthy software or other electronic health record (EHR) by recording accurate and timely case notes. Follows all EHR policies and procedures; maintains other program records and compliance reports.
- Confers with Program Directors and Managers on case issues, client progress, supporting spiritual development, and coordinating care for clients.
- Assists Support Services in completing required forms to facilitate connection and access to government and community resources, including, housing, public assistance, medical and mental health services, and providers of vocational and life skills, as needed.
- Builds relationships with area community stakeholders and service organizations; attends agency and community meetings and workshops as appropriate.
- May lead prayer and devotions with clients, may attend UGMTC sponsored spiritual enrichment activities.
- Supports the Christian values and ethics of UGMTC with clients, staff, interns, volunteers and the community.
- Maintains co-operative relationships and communication with other departments to ensure access and positive experiences for UGMTC clients and supports achievement of program objectives.
- Maintains active professional license required for level of clinical work.
- Ensures Director-Clinical Services and Assistant Clinical Director are apprised of relevant information related to issues brought forth by UGMTC staff, clients, or issues related to proper provision of therapy by clinical interns.
