The University of Minnesota’s Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Doctoral‑level Licensed Mental Health Practitioner and Board‑Certified Behavior Analyst for an academic faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The position is full‑time, comprising 0.65 clinical FTE in the UMMC Emergency Department and 0.35 academic FTE for research and other academic activities.
Clinical Responsibilities- Supervise BCBAs and other staff in client intake, discharge activities, and assessment and treatment procedures.
- Observe assessment and treatment sessions, develop solutions when progress is insufficient.
- Review and approve treatment materials, descriptions, and progress notes.
- Develop and refine skill‑acquisition and behavior‑reduction programs.
- Participate in integrated, multidisciplinary care teams including nursing, psychiatry, and care coordination.
- Demonstrate excellence and ongoing contributions in clinical care and consultation.
- Provide case management: conduct evaluations, triage patients, and offer direct services for new and follow‑up patients.
- Conduct clinical research with patients who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
- Develop new research areas in collaboration with department members.
- Obtain and maintain external funding.
- Publish research articles in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Develop presentations for local, national, and international conferences.
- Analyze data to maintain financial solvency.
- Hire and train new employees.
- Develop, write, and implement policies and procedures for the program.
- Participate in community outreach activities.
- Direct and oversee compliance and responsible conduct of research, including education of pre‑doctoral interns, post‑doctoral fellows, and students.
- Required: Ph.D. or M.D., Licensed Mental Health Practitioner, and Board‑Certified Behavior Analyst.
- Preferred: Strong foundation and career experience in assessment and treatment of Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD); ability to support ED staff in managing and de‑escalating behavioral crises in NDD individuals.
Pay Range: This dual‑employment role is compensated by the University of Minnesota (academic salary beginning at $55,000) and University of Minnesota Physicians (clinical salary based on AAMC benchmarks). Total salary is competitive with market benchmarks.
Appointment: 100% appointment, Faculty position.
