Benefits Specialist
Seeking a detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to support the administration, compliance, and communication of employee benefits programs. This role will work closely with employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth benefit operations and provide exceptional customer service regarding benefits-related questions and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support employee benefit programs including:
Medical, dental, and vision plans, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Life insurance and voluntary benefits, 401(k) and retirement programs - Review and verify insurance premium calculations and administrative statements.
- Process vendor invoices and prepare benefit-related accounting spreadsheets.
- Respond to employee benefit inquiries and escalate complex issues to appropriate subject matter experts.
- Support leave of absence administration, including coordinating benefit premium payments during leave periods.
- Administer COBRA processes, including calculating and communicating subsidy eligibility related to layoffs, military leave, and employee death events.
- Complete benefit forms, questionnaires, and documentation accurately.
- Administer Qualified Medical Child Support Orders (QMCSOs) and process benefit enrollments accordingly.
- Review FSA and COBRA error reports and resolve discrepancies.
- Support Adoption Assistance program administration.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1+ years of experience supporting employee benefits administration.
- Basic understanding of employee benefits and human resources practices.
- Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering employee leaves of absence (LOA).
- Previous benefits administration experience within a corporate environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting and spreadsheet management.
- Experience working with HRIS, payroll systems, and benefits administration platforms.
- Exposure to or experience utilizing AI tools to improve efficiency and streamline processes.
- Ability to identify process improvements and recommend solutions.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following:
