The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking multiple full-time Human Resources Technicians to join our Transactions team in St. Paul, MN.
The Human Resources Technician works in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and performs human resources transactions while providing technical personnel support to HR staff, managers, supervisors, and employees. The position ensures HR functions are completed accurately and timely in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations, state policies and procedures, and applicable collective bargaining agreements and salary plans.
The position performs technical assignments across a variety of HR functional areas, including benefits, retirement, and personnel transactions. The successful candidate will work effectively as part of a team while independently prioritizing deadline-driven and time-sensitive work. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to accurately interpret and apply policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
+ Process personnel transactions in the State's personnel/payroll system (SEMA4).
+ Serve as a Designated Department Insurance Representative (DDIR) and provide employees with information and assistance regarding benefits.
+ Serve as a Retirement Coordinator and assist employees throughout the retirement process.
+ Perform general administrative and personnel-related activities.
+ Provide support and assistance to HR staff, managers, supervisors, and employees on personnel matters.
+ Respond to and provide guidance on a variety of human resources inquiries.
Until the probationary period is successfully completed, the selected candidate will be required to work onsite full time to complete training and onboarding. Following the probationary period, the position may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement, including part-time telework, with supervisory approval. Employees approved for telework will be required to complete and sign a telework agreement.

+ Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while managing frequent interruptions and competing demands.
+ Problem-solving skills sufficient to effectively perform assigned duties and address routine issues.
+ Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.
