Job SummaryThis position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of Windows Server operating systems. Under general supervision, the position provides support, maintenance, and delivery of server infrastructure services for MNIT customers, executive branch agencies, and associated business groups. Duties include performing standard and routine server administration activities, participating in ticket triage, and providing operational support in coordination with team members to ensure continued service delivery.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 600 North Robert Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.
Minimum QualificationsPosition requires a minimum of two (2) years of IT related experience in server administration and operational support.
Experience must include:
- Experience supporting and administering Windows Server operating systems.
- Experience supporting Windows servers in physical, virtual, or cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other cloud environments.
- Experience with Power Shell scripting for automation or system administration tasks
- Experience working within an enterprise ticketing system to manage incidents, changes, and work requests.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
- Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master’s degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor’s degree for one (1) year; and an associate’s degree for six (6) months.
