Position:
System Administrator The role requires a technical expert in complex operating systems, responsible for installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, network devices, and firewalls. The administrator monitors system performance, ensures adequate storage, and plans upgrades to support growth. Responsibilities also include managing user accounts, securing permissions, and providing help desk support, particularly for escalated issues. Mentoring team members and educating users, along with M365, Intune, and Autopilot management, are key components of the position.
Duties
- Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems.
- Helps develop, document, communicate, and enforce a network technology policy.
- Responsible for the installation and configuration of new software and hardware, including the server network, devices, and firewalls.
- Monitors system performance, IT system operations and storage utilization.
- Plans ahead for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.
- Manages user accounts and assets and assigns and updates security permissions on the network according to security policy.
- Participates in help desk requests via phone and ticketing.
- Provides support with escalated help desk requests.
- Mentors team members and educates users.
- M365, Intune, and Autopilot management.
- Other duties as assigned.
- BS in computer science, information systems or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the IT sector.
- Advanced knowledge of operating systems and networking.
- Sound understanding of the principles of routing, firewalls, and client/server applications.
- Understanding of system security and data recovery.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with team members and managers at all levels of the organization, and represent Mac Queen in a professional manner.
- Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally.
- Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs occasionally.
- Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards.
- Travel by air or car occasionally.
This position is classified as Salary Grade 8, with a salary range of $78,595.99 to $.
