The Data Scientist will be responsible for structuring the research question, determining the best analytical approach, conducting analyses, identifying business‑relevant insights, and creating a compelling narrative for key stakeholders and talent executive leadership.

The role requires deep expertise in data science with strong focus on text analytics, clustering, time series analysis, multivariate regression, basic predictive modelling, and significance testing.

Essential Functions
  • Use data science to conduct research on business topics relevant for the Digital Insights team.
  • Apply quantitative and qualitative methods to uncover new insights for the Digital Talent team and other Talent & SL functional teams.
  • Identify creative approaches to answer research questions and brainstorm analytical solutions.
  • Rapidly test potential approaches and stand‑up simple analyses to demonstrate feasibility.
  • Co‑develop research plans and work closely with other Digital team members and business stakeholders to shape the research approach and potential outputs.
  • Collect and clean data, identify relevant internal and external sources, program or leverage existing tools (SQL, APIs, scrapers, etc.) and test quality.
  • Continuously improve predictive models by incorporating new levers and environmental factors.
  • Stay current on the latest tools and methodologies to generate innovative analytical ideas.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise on advanced Excel, SQL, machine learning, natural language processing, text sentiment analysis, mathematics, and statistics.
  • Champion the value of analytics and a data‑driven approach across Talent, delivering thought leadership on the full cycle of talent analytics.
  • Design data & insights models for visualization, delivering advanced and predictive analytics to support insights to Talent Executive teams.
  • Independently conduct rigorous statistical analyses in Python or R, using quantitative modelling, statistics, or machine learning (especially text analytics).
  • Translate complex analytical results into actionable recommendations and communicate findings through PowerPoint and/or Business Intelligence platforms such as Power

    BI.
Analytical/Decision‑Making Responsibilities
  • Apply scientific methods and technologies to analyse data, develop models, and deliver solutions.
  • Manage data modelling, integration, and manipulation of large, disparate datasets (structured, semi‑structured or unstructured).
  • Translate complex analytical results into actionable recommendations.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
  • Experience applying a broad range of data science techniques, including text analytics, clustering, time series analysis, multivariate regression, predictive modelling, and significance testing.
  • Demonstrable understanding of statistics and mathematical concepts relevant to data science.
  • Experience with data wrangling, cleansing, and data engineering for data science applications.
  • Experience with advanced data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Spotfire, Qlik View, and others for integrating disparate data sources, designing KPIs, and generating automated visualisations.
  • Ability to participate effectively in virtual teams across diverse geographies.
  • Strong teaming skills; collaborate effectively across the talent ecosystem, within the Digital team and the firm at large.
  • Strong communication skills for sharing thought leadership across EY and externally.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to operate within budget and effective time frames.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to track and interpret trending directions for data analytics and identify potential future options.
  • Ability to cope with ambiguity, drive change, and deliver performance outcomes in a complex, agile environment.
Supervision Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Leads across Digital and wider Talent Functions to support business and functional delivery.
