Network Technician

On-site, multiple locations across the 7-county metro area; job includes performing work both inside and outside.

• Install or replace physical network switches and ports in Transit and Council system infrastructure throughout the organization.
• Support System Engineers in diagnosing and troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
• Support and communicate about workspace standard power systems and wireless connectivity issues with the network team.
• Document work performed using pictures, notes, and shared spreadsheets.
• Ensure equipment installation is in proper location of Council and Council connected infrastructure.
• Ensure basic installation steps are performed.
• Communicate set‑up issues and concerns with System Engineers and the network team.
• Identify appropriate hardware equipment to be transported and delivered for the required job.
• Safely load and secure hardware equipment in Council vehicles.
• Document appropriate hardware equipment delivered to System Engineer.
• Discuss planned hardware transportation, installation, schedule, and connection with the Systems Engineer.
• Assist the Systems Engineer in layout of new infrastructure equipment.
• Communicate planned work completion or issues.
• Provide knowledge transfer to other Network Team members as required.

• High school diploma/GED AND four or more years of relevant work experience; or an Associate or higher degree OR two‑year college/technical school certification and two or more years of relevant work experience.
• Cisco certification.
• Experience working with General low voltage power, multi‑media connectivity, and Solar Winds.
• Experience reading blueprints and floor plans.
