The MNIT MDH team provides services for over 250+ applications and delivers the information technology to drive one of the leading public health systems in the nation. You will support an agency that works to protect, maintain, and improve the health of all Minnesotans.

** This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last nine (9) months.*
* This position supports the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) by leading modernization, remediation, and ongoing maintenance efforts for a portfolio of more than 100 custom-built, primarily JAVA applications. The role will leverage AI models to update legacy systems, enhance technical efficiency, and design priority solutions that align with departmental objectives. As a senior technician, this position provides mentorship to IT professionals, collaborates closely with developers across the agency and enterprise, and works with senior management to analyze business processes and recommend innovative, scalable technology solutions that improve organizational effectiveness.

* Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of IT related experience in experience in Java application development, object-oriented programming, and enterprise software development.

Experience must include:

+ Extensive professional experience developing enterprise applications using Java and common Java Frameworks and experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.

+ Knowledge and practical use of software development best practices, including version control, unit testing, and build processes.

+ Hands-on experience with AI models, application security, performance analysis, and modern observability practices.
