Job Title: Database Architect
Location: St. Paul, MN
Pay Rate: $63/hr
Duration: 1 year
- Lead data strategy, architecture, operations, and infrastructure for Electrophysiology (EP) R&D data environments.
- Design scalable data architectures, metadata standards, clinical dictionaries, and common data models for clinical, imaging, cardiac mapping, and time-series datasets.
- Oversee data acquisition, transfer, ingestion, validation, cataloging, lifecycle management, versioning, lineage, and dataset readiness.
- Partner with R&D engineering, AI/ML, Clinical, IT/Cloud, field teams, physicians, and external vendors to support data-driven product development.
- Establish data governance, quality, security, access controls, retention, traceability, and audit-ready processes.
- Support AI/ML dataset discovery, preparation, annotation, validation, reproducibility, and gold-standard dataset development.
- Manage data labeling vendors, external data providers, SOWs, deliverables, and quality expectations.
- Ensure data practices align with FDA, GxP, HIPAA, GDPR, and applicable AI/ML validation requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Health Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in data management, data operations, data engineering, clinical data support, or related roles.
- Data architecture and management of large, diverse clinical, imaging, mapping, or time-series datasets.
- Data governance, metadata management, data cataloging, data quality, and lifecycle management.
- Azure, Databricks, or comparable cloud-based data platforms.
- SQL and Python or comparable scripting/programming experience.
- Clinical and field data acquisition, transfer, ingestion, validation, and traceability.
- Data versioning, lineage, reproducibility, and audit-readiness processes.
- Data privacy, security, access controls, retention, and regulated-industry compliance.
- Cross-functional data initiatives involving R&D, Clinical, Engineering, IT/Cloud, AI/ML, and external partners.
- Medical device, healthcare, life sciences, or regulated R&D experience.
- Electrophysiology, cardiac mapping, clinical imaging, or related clinical data domain experience.
- DICOM, HL7, and FHIR.
- AI/ML dataset preparation, annotation, validation, MLOps, or model governance.
- Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or Alation.
- FDA regulations, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, HIPAA, and GDPR.
- Enterprise data platform modernization.
- External data provider, labeling vendor, or strategic data partnership management.
