Position: Patent Attorney / Patent Agent

Experienced Patent Attorney / Patent Agent (5+ Years Experience)

An Intellectual Property (IP) law firm headquartered in Minneapolis is seeking an experienced
Patent Attorney or Patent Agent
with at least5 years of experience
and a technical background in
Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
. This position offers flexibility and may be
fully remote or based in our Minneapolis office
.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in both theU.S. and Internationally
.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and prosecuteU.S. and international patent applications
    , including:
  • Utility, design, and utility model applications
  • Responses to Office Actions from USPTO and foreign patent offices
  • Coordinate international patent prosecution with
    foreign associate counsel
  • Draft patent applications
  • Review invention disclosures, patent applications, and file histories (file wrappers)
  • Prepare and review
    USPTO forms and required documentation
  • Manage dockets and coordinate workflow across teams, including coordinating with staff and training other attorneys/agents.
  • May assist with due-diligence projects, such as freedom to operate, portfolio review, and IP agreement review.
Qualifications
  • Must be
    licensed and/or registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in one of the following:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • or other Engineering/Material Sciences
  • Minimum of5 years of patent prosecution experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
