This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Employees living within 50 miles of the primary work location will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. This position exists to provide technical litigation and administrative assistance to the Office of General Counsel (OGC) attorneys in the administration and enforcement of the agency's laws, rules, and regulations. The position will focus primarily on Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health (MNOSHA) contested case litigation and also provides backup-up paralegal assistance to other attorneys in the unit. This position will support the Workers' Compensation Advisory Council.
This position provides other high-level administrative support to executive leadership in the Commissioner's Office, as directed, and performs other duties, as assigned.
Responsibilities include:
+ Manage MNOSHA contested case docket. Prepare, summarize, and proof legal forms and documents for accuracy. Serve, file, or otherwise distribute documents in accordance with attorney instructions and OGC operating policies and procedures.
+ Assist the attorneys of OGC with rule makings subject to the Minnesota Administrative Procedure Act.
+ Perform administrative duties for the Workers' Compensation Advisory Council (WCAC) and/or the Occupational Safety and Health Review Board (OSHRB).
+ Provide scheduling, reporting, and research assistance to the attorneys of OGC.
+ Provide back-up assistance to OGC support staff when needed or as directed, to ensure the needs of the department and OGC are being met.
+ Assignments vary in frequency and type.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
** Minimum Qualifications*
* · Completion of formal paralegal coursework from an accredited program which resulted in a program certificate, associate degree or bachelor's degree plus one year of experience working as a paralegal.
OR
· Two years of experience working as a paralegal.
AND
· Knowledge of court procedures, legal terminology, legal document formatting, and proper citation in order to properly draft and file legal documents.
· Ability to handle a large volume of work while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
· Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
· Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other application software.
