Surgical Services Purchasing Lead
This position is responsible for the purchasing for all implants, supplies, and equipment for the Surgery, MRI, Anesthesia and PACU areas. This position provides guidance to the supply chain team on best practices.
This is a hybrid opportunity with the expectation of working onsite a minimum of 3 days per week, and as needed for the position (St Paul, MN).
The annual salary range for this opportunity is $ 63,273 to $ 94,889, with a median salary of $ 79,081 . Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities
- Purchasing Responsibilities-
- Issues purchase orders for implants and supplies.
- Ensures purchase order pricing aligns with contracts.
- Eliminates any product shortages that would negatively affect patient care.
- Participates and contributes to initiatives in the Value Analysis committees.
- Partners with Strategic Sourcing Specialist on initiatives to reduce costs or improve quality in care.
- Conducts financial analysis on proposed product transitions.
- Make recommendations on products or equipment to surgical staff.
- Inventory Management:
- Supports inventory management and right-sizing of inventory levels.
- Supports and assists product and equipment recall process.
- Provides leadership to the Supply Chain staff in the surgery area. Coordinates day to day purchasing activities, and work assignments.
- Vendor Management:
- Models positive, respectful, courteous behaviors and actions. Establishes professional relationships with vendors and company representatives.
- Negotiates with vendors for implants, supplies and equipment.
- Coordinates product evaluation and trials.
- Coordinates with service leads and vendors.
- Service & Leadership:
- Lead process improvement initiatives between Supply Chain and Surgical Services.
- Maintains peer and organizational confidentiality.
- Communicates with patients, co-workers and customers in a friendly manner. Interacts attentively with co-workers and customers.
- Ensures that the needs of patients and customers take precedent over other activities.
- Responds quickly to questions or concerns of employees, patients and families.
- Provides ongoing and useful feedback to employees on how well they are doing their job.
- Trains new employees.
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years' experience in a surgery center.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including demonstrated problem/conflict resolution and supervisory skills
- Knowledge and general understanding of purchasing and inventory management software
- Knowledge of orthopedic equipment/implants
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated customer service focus
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree
- Certification as a Surgical Technician or equivalent experience
