Logistics Packaging Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Packaging engineer to join our global logistics team. This role is critical in implementing packaging and shipping solutions that improve trailer and container utilization, reduce transportation costs, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of relevant experience and a strong background in packaging, supply chain/logistics, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
This role will focus on ensuring efficient trailer and container utilization, material handling, pack standards/palletization, and documenting operational process improvements within the global logistics network supporting a 10M saving deliverable in 2026 & 2027. This role will partner with various internal and external teams to implement operational improvements, standardize pallet configurations, optimize packaging solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement logistics packaging and shipping solutions that maximize trailer utilization, standardize material handling, and reduce transportation costs across global logistics network.
- Document and standardize shipping and receiving processes using industry best practices for global deployment and operational consistency.
- Partner with logistics operations, distribution centers, manufacturing, packaging, and procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of packaging solutions into end-to-end supply chain processes.
- Analyze logistics loading processes—including crating, decking, bracing/dunnage, and returnables—to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Define and standardize loading and unloading equipment requirements to support effective material handling across all global sites.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics packaging efficiency and global load factor performance.
- Leverages Power BI analytics to identify trends, underutilized lanes, and drive continuous improvement in Load Factor Metrics, with a goal of improving performance to an 80% utilization rate.
- Develops decision-support tools, including prioritization matrices, process maps, and implementation timelines to accelerate the rollout of load factor initiatives and inform site visit planning.
- Prepares and participates in onsite events including Vendor/Supplier partners, Distribution Centers, and Manufacturing plants
Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics packaging, supply chain, or related engineering/operations roles
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, design, transportation/logistics, and supply chain operations
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (Mfg, Planning, Procurment) and external partners (e.g., 3PLs, Freight Forwarders)
- Ability to travel as required, up to 25%-50% domestically to and Vendor sites
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance tracking tools
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Knowledge of global logistics standards and regulatory requirements is a plus
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field
