My client, a growing consumer products manufacturer is seeking a Sr. Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing and procurement of ingredients and raw material commodities across multiple manufacturing locations. Position can be located in Boston, MA or St. Paul, MN. The ideal candidate will have direct experience managing raw material commodities such as grains/wheat, corn, oils, proteins, or similar agricultural commodities.
Candidates should have hands‑on experience with commodity markets, pricing trends, sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and managing supply risk within these categories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for ingredients, raw materials, and commodities.
- Manage commodities such as grains/wheat, corn, oils, proteins, and other agricultural raw materials.
- Monitor commodity markets, pricing trends, market conditions, and supply risks to support purchasing decisions.
- Lead supplier negotiations and contract implementation using Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles.
- Manage supplier relationships, performance, qualification, and development.
- Drive cost savings, PPV/IPV improvements, supply continuity, and procurement KPIs.
- Develop and implement strategies to manage commodity pricing and supply volatility.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, R&D, Manufacturing, and Regulatory on sourcing and ingredient optimization.
- Manage spot buys, supply disruptions, and emergency sourcing activities.
- Lead and mentor one direct report.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field.
- 5+ years of procurement/strategic sourcing experience, preferably within food, ingredients, agricultural commodities, or CPG.
- Direct experience managing raw material commodities such as grains/wheat, corn, oils, proteins, or similar categories.
- Strong knowledge of commodity markets, pricing, sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and supply risk management.
- Experience with RFx processes, supplier performance management, contracts, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
Willingness to travel up to 30% #LI-JM1
