* The Risk Management Division (RMD) ()  operates Minnesota state government's self-insurance program, along with the state workers' compensation and safety program. The division also insures the state's assets and provides property and casualty coverage. The Workers' Comp (WC) unit takes a proactive approach with a focus on safety and loss control efforts that strive to minimize the incidence of injuries, accidents, and other damages and losses.

We are seeking multiple WC Supervisor 1s to plan, direct, and supervise activities of the Workers' Compensation Claims Specialists (working title of claims adjusters) to ensure that claims accepted, denied, settled, paid, and recovered are in compliance with Minnesota Workers' Compensation laws; protects the assets of the State Compensation Revolving Fund in these areas of responsibilities; and ensures the proper utilization of resources within the unit.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

+ Supervising a team of claims specialists/adjusters, providing performance management, and assigning claims based on their position level.

+ Monitoring progress and reassigning cases that become complex or require escalation.

+ Establishing and maintaining workflow guidelines, claims, procedures, and standards which meet legal timelines and client expectations.

+ Assisting the WC Claims Manager in the development, implementation, and maintenance of effective training programs.

+ Assisting the WC Supervisor 2 to provide responsible financial management of the State Compensation Revolving Fund.

+ Managing a caseload of complex and difficult claims.

These positions are eligible for up to a 50% hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework arrangement, additional onsite attendance may be required for team meetings or as requested by management to meet business needs. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. ** Minimum Qualifications*
* The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position.

+ Three (3) years of experience performing, leading, and/or consulting on workers' compensation claims management for a self-insured employer, third party claims administrator, insurance carrier, occupational/rehabilitation provider, governmental employer, or similar environment. Workers' compensation claims management experience would include handling of claims involving time loss from work and other indemnity-related claims, along with applying laws and case laws to claims.

+ Experience in a supervisory, project manager, or team lead position that includes assigning, coaching, training, reporting on the work activities of others, and/or engaging in performance management-based conversations.

+ Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial management to monitor budgetary activities.

+ Effective interpersonal, human relations, and communication skills to work with a variety of individuals at all levels and with varying backgrounds and skills.

+ Ability to handle a large volume of work while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
