Salary: $26-41 an hour
Shift: M-Th 6a-3p Fri 6a-noon
Location: St. Paul, MN
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret engineering drawings, die designs, and GD&T with expert precision.
- Safely operate manual machines (knee mill, surface grinder, lathe, drill press) at a master level.
- Lead new progressive die assembly-including grinding, polishing, aligning, timing, and verifying clearances.
- Conduct progressive die tryouts/debugging at the punch press and make necessary adjustments.
- Manufacture simple die components that do not require CNC or Wire EDM.
- Build and assemble advanced tooling such as blanking tools, brake tools, and fixtures.
- Develop and refine flat blank geometry for formed parts.
- Repair, sharpen, and maintain dies; dismantle and reassemble components with high accuracy.
- Inspect tooling and parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments.
- Shape, smooth, and finish die components for exact part geometry.
- Review tooling and recommend design improvements for performance and longevity.
- Mentor and support Tool & Die Maker I and II team members.
- Follow all safety and compliance procedures.
- Collaborate with supervisors and designers; document changes and improvements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree or certification in Tool & Die making preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 5+ years of experience in tool & die making with a manufacturing background.
- Mechanical aptitude and advanced hands-on machining experience.
- Highly skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and GD&T.
- Proficient with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Mathematical and problem-solving abilities related to dimensions and tolerances.
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Commitment to safety and following established procedures.
- Hands-on expertise with manual machining, advanced die assembly, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the shift.
- Lift up to 25 lbs regularly (up to 50 lbs occasionally).
- Vision and focus for detailed precision work.
