Production - Sander​/Blaster

The Sander/Blaster smooths surfaces of items, such as automobile or applicant components, prior to finishing operations.

The incumbent will work an 8-hour split shift, Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Some overtime work may be required.

• Grind, sand, clean or polish objects to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
• Polish ground areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface.
• Mark defects for repair.
• Measure and mark equipment, objects and parts to ensure grinding standards are met.
• Record product and processing data on specified form.
• Load and adjust work pieces onto equipment or worktables and inspect the surface of the workpiece for defects.
• Verify the quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them in working machinery.
• Replace worn abrasive disks, wheels and belts as required.
• May involve some racking and un-racking duties as well, such as moving materials between pallets and conveyor/racks.

• High school diploma or GED or demonstrated competence.
• Read and understand instructions in English.
• Basic addition and subtraction.
• Read simple mechanical blueprints.
• Ability to stand in one place for extended periods of time with continuous arm motion throughout the day.
• Perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

• Previous manufacturing environment experience.
