About the Position

The Machine Set‑Up Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, troubleshooting, and operating production equipment to support efficient manufacturing operations. This role ensures machines are properly configured to meet production specifications, quality standards, and operational efficiency targets. In addition to performing machine set‑ups and changeovers, the operator actively operates equipment during production runs, monitors performance, addresses process issues, and supports continuous improvement efforts to maximize uptime and throughput.

Work

Location & Schedule
  • This position requires the employee to be onsite at our Vital Path Maplewood, MN location.
  • Shift: First Shift Monday‑Thursday 4:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
  • Vital Path does not offer relocation assistance for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Perform machine set‑ups and changeovers according to production schedules.
  • Configure equipment settings, tooling, and machine parameters.
  • Verify machine readiness prior to production start‑up.
  • Operate production equipment to meet production schedule after set‑up completion.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust settings as needed.
  • Troubleshoot machine and process issues following standard operating procedures.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and equipment checks, including but not limited to performance lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, and minor part replacement.
  • Complete required production, quality, and maintenance documentation. Ability to read technical drawings including product specifications, material specifications, and workers orders.
  • Conduct in‑process inspections to ensure product quality.
  • Communicate equipment issues, downtime, or production concerns.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and operating procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Train others as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Ability to work around manufacturing equipment safely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two‑year associate’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with braiders, coilers, laser welders, oven and reflow machines preferred.
Compensation
  • The hourly rate is $24.00 – $27.00. The posted hourly range complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as market conditions, level of experience and training, education, certifications, as well as internal and external equity.
  • This position is eligible to earn an annual performance bonus based on meeting Vital Path’s bonus performance plan.
