Location:
St. Paul, MN
- Design and develop tool and die concepts based on manufacturing needs, customer specifications, and production volumes
- Create detailed blueprints, 3D models, and flat blank geometry using Solid Works/Logo Press (Cadkey a plus)
- Design punch press tooling ranging from temporary stage tooling to complex progressive dies with sensors and automation
- Build and test prototypes to verify functionality, quality, and design intent
- Review customer drawings, CAD files, RFQs, and specifications to ensure designs meet requirements and budget constraints
- Collaborate with programmers, EDM, CNC, press brake, quality, and toolroom teams to support production
- Select appropriate materials to balance durability, cost, and performance
- Oversee tooling fabrication, approve requisitions, and support troubleshooting efforts
- Modify designs based on testing, customer feedback, or engineering clarifications
- Maintain accurate documentation for designs, testing, and production specifications
- Have 5–7 years of experience in tool & die design within a manufacturing environment
- Are proficient in Solid Works/Logo Press and skilled in reading blueprints with GD&T
- Understand manufacturing processes such as machining, stamping and laser cutting
- Bring strong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills
- Are detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects
- Communicate clearly with cross‑functional teams and customers
- Value safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent education and experience, including a high school diploma with a technical degree.
- Hands‑on experience with tooling design, prototyping, and production support
- Knowledge of materials selection, tooling components, and manufacturing methods
- Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the workday
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Good vision, depth perception, and manual dexterity for detailed design and inspection work
