As a Machine Maintenance Mechanic at Old Dutch Foods, you will be responsible for the set-up, installation, and troubleshooting of machinery and facilities. Your role will include participation in facility maintenance, repair, equipment installation, and other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. You will adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety/Quality Programs, consistently monitoring for food safety issues and reporting them to your supervisor.
Days: 3rd Shift Monday - Friday 9:00 PM-5:00 AM
Pay Range: $26.51–$32.70 USD per hour, depending on experience.
Job Duties- Ensure production and packaging machines run at standard speeds and adhere to quality specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair machinery as necessary to maintain productivity.
- Monitor production equipment and report any issues that cannot be immediately handled to the supervisor.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and PMOs as a team to maintain productivity.
- Participate in machine and general plant maintenance and repair as needed.
- Assist in the installation of new machinery.
- Work on assigned work orders.
- Perform weekly/daily machine/equipment inspections.
- Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Adhere to procedures for maintenance performed near food surfaces to ensure cleanliness and safety.
- Report any food safety or food quality issues to the supervisor.
- Follow plant GMPs and Food Safety and Quality Programs.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of working experience with form, fill, and film machinery.
- Past troubleshooting experience with PLCs is desired.
- Experience may be substituted with a successful completion of a two-year technical education in packaging, electrical, electronics, or a related field.
- Troubleshoot and repair packaging machines to minimize downtime.
- Exhibit mechanical aptitude.
- Interpret and understand maintenance manuals in English.
- Maneuver around machinery 100% of the workday.
- Climb ladders/stairs as needed throughout the day.
- Lift heavy, uneven loads weighing up to 64 pounds.
- Bend or squat for 5-20% of the workday.
- Work in tight or awkward spaces.
- Maneuver cautiously on slippery floors.
- Work on elevated platforms.
- Adapt to varied environments: hot, humid, cold, noisy, wet, and odorous.
- Extend hands and arms from the body or overhead.
- Communicate effectively in noisy environments to ensure quality and safety.
- Complete safety training and adhere to requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, gloves, and respirators.
- Work up to 40 hours per week or more if needed.
- Work safely around electricity and moving machinery.
- Maintain authorization to operate lift trucks.
- This is a Union Position with Twin Cities Bakery Workers Local 22.
- Overtime paid for hours worked over 8 in a day.
- On-Time Bonus earned weekly.
