Job Description:
Sanitation:
3rd shift personnel performs various cleaning duties according to the established frequency to maintain a clean safe food environment and to be in full compliance with all requirements of programs and policies.
Follows SSOP’s to ensure food processing equipment including the physical plant building structure and grounds are cleaned to food safe guidelines and regulations.
Physically demanding position.
Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Food Safety/Quality Programs of the manufacturing plant. Consistently on the watch for food safety and reports food safety and/or food quality issues to supervisor.
Responsibilities- Disassemble, wash, clean, sanitize and reassemble production line equipment & utensils according to the SSOP.
- Clean walls, floors, ceiling, and overhead pipes.
- Correctly operate equipment operations and controls.
- Follow sanitation procedures for proper chemical solutions used and proper concentrations so that it is not harmful to workers, equipment or the product.
- General housekeeping – keep building’s interior and exterior clean and orderly by following Master cleaning schedule & SSOP.
- Follow all safety procedures and complete safety training. Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and PPE. Report any injury, accident or unsafe condition immediately to supervisor.
- Perform packaging duties when overnight production is needed.
- Scrub, wipe, scrub, vacuum, mop, squeegee, foam, and hose down.
- Notify Sanitation Leader or Supervisor of all machine breakdowns during or after the sanitation of equipment.
- Authorized to use lift trucks.
- Past experience performing cleaning duties in an industrial setting is a plus.
- Ability to work alone or as a team and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Understand and follow safety rules or procedures.
- Be able to lift 35 lbs. from floor to shoulder and from shoulder to floor.
- Stand, bend, twist, reach, kneel, and squat.
- Frequently cleaning tasks are performed at heights (i.e. ladders, catwalks, scissor lifts, elevated platforms, etc.).
- Push or pull a force weight of 50+lbs.
- Operate lift trucks (forklifts, scissor lifts, hand trucks).
- Scrub and/or scrap with hands continuously.
- Frequently reach out, bend at waist, and hold static positions.
- Grasp and manipulate small hand tools (i.e. wrenches, putty knife, screwdrivers, etc.).
- Use hands to scrub or scrap continuously.
- Sweep, squeegee, vacuum or mop.
- Periodically work in close quarters.
- Work under exposure to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, and chemicals.
- Wear provided PPE (hearing protectors, rubber boots, aprons, gloves, goggles and face shields, etc.).
- Properly handle, transport and use appropriate chemicals in the correct concentrations.
- Determine colors, read numbers, safety signs, and areas that need cleaning.
- Work as a team to complete tasks.
- Dependable attendance.
- Clean equipment or area according to the SSOP within cleaning time deadlines.
- Follow written or verbal direction given by supervisor.
