Manufacturing Technician I Clean Room Operator (Substrates Department)

This role focuses on producing and testing electronic boards used in the medical industry within a clean room environment. The Manufacturing Technician I operates specialized equipment and follows detailed work instructions to assemble, test, and assist with the final packaging of medical device wafers. The position requires strong attention to safety, quality, and adherence to clean room practices while supporting daily production goals in a highly regulated, quality-driven setting.

Responsibilities
  • Operate various clean room production machines to build electronic boards and components used in medical devices.
  • Assemble products using specialized equipment, fixtures, detailed work instructions, and test equipment to correctly produce, assemble, and test medical devices.
  • Assist with testing and final stages of packaging for wafers built by operators, ensuring products meet all quality and safety standards.
  • Meet daily assembly and build targets while maintaining consistent productivity and accuracy.
  • Follow all safety procedures and quality standards at all times within the clean room and production areas.
  • Handle materials, including refilling supplies, checking out and checking in pastes, and performing paste measurements as needed.
  • Retrieve required items from the Axapta pick list to support ongoing production activities.
  • Perform thickness measurements, screen measurements, and viscosity measurements to verify materials and products meet specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections, including work under a microscope when required, to ensure product quality and identify defects.
  • Follow written procedures and verbal instructions precisely to complete tasks in accordance with manufacturing and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with and around chemicals, solvents, adhesives, and related materials used in assembly processes while complying with safety guidelines.
  • Maintain clean room practices, including proper gowning, personal hygiene, and handling of materials to prevent contamination.
  • Collaborate with team members in a small, team-oriented environment to support continuous production and quality improvement.
  • Complete documentation and production records accurately to reflect work performed, measurements taken, and materials used.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience, preferably in a medical or medical device environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand procedures and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Comfort working with and around chemicals, solvents, adhesives, and related assembly materials, without chemical allergies.
  • Ability and willingness to conform to clean room practices, including specific apparel requirements and personal hygiene standards.
  • Experience or aptitude in machine operation and machine setup in a production environment.
  • Ability to perform inspections and basic measurements, including thickness, screen, and viscosity checks.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards in all tasks.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift hours from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Sunday night to Friday morning.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience at a medical device assembly firm is preferred but not required.
  • 7 Years of Background verification in clean room operations or clean room manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Experience as a machine operator in a medical or technical manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with medical assembly processes and inspection techniques, including microscope work, is helpful.
  • Comfort using production-related software systems, such as Axapta or similar tools, for pick lists and material retrieval.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in a small, team-oriented environment.
  • Adaptability to a variety of tasks, including assembly, inspection, testing, and material handling.
  • Interest in learning new skills and developing a long-term career in medical device manufacturing.
