PositionSummary
The Social Media Strategist develops and implements social media initiatives that support the university’s brand, marketing, and enrollment goals. This position facilitates content planning, community engagement, paid and organic campaigns, analytics, and social media governance while identifying innovative opportunities to enhance audience reach and engagement. The role also supervises students and collaborates with campus partners to ensure a cohesive, data-driven social media presence across university channels.
Key Responsibilities- Social Media Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement channel-specific strategies and provide recommendations that support university marketing, enrollment, and brand objectives. - Content Development and Publishing:
Collaborate with creative, digital, and campus partners to plan, create, and distribute engaging, platform-appropriate content that reflects the university brand and resonates with target audiences. - Community Engagement and Reputation Management:
Manage university social media channels by fostering meaningful engagement, responding to inquiries, monitoring conversations, and building relationships with prospective students, current students, alumni, and external audiences. - Campaign and Advertising Management:
Plan, execute, and optimize organic and paid social media campaigns, including audience targeting, budget management, A/B testing, and performance evaluation to support awareness, recruitment, and enrollment goals. - Analytics, Reporting, and Optimization:
Monitor social media performance metrics, analyze campaign effectiveness, and provide regular reports and recommendations to improve engagement, reach, conversion, and overall impact. - Brand Governance and Digital Innovation:
Support brand consistency and compliance across university social media accounts through oversight, training, and account audits while identifying emerging trends, platform updates, and innovative engagement opportunities. - Student Supervision:
Recruit, supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to student employees and content contributors. - Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience managing and/or utilizing social media platforms as part of a professional role, including content creation, engagement, analytics, or outreach activities.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in social media, marketing, communications, or related field
- Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community
Nice To Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital media, communication, or journalism
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Experience working with an integrated marketing and communications team and/or within a higher education environment.
- Experience using Meta Business Suite for social media management and analytics.
