Teachers Retirement Association (TRA) has been administering pension coverage to Minnesota educators for decades, with a mission to help members and their beneficiaries plan for an independent and financially secure retirement. We are currently seeking job candidates who are strong writers and have solid editorial and grammarian skills to serve as our organization’s Content and Accessibility Coordinator.

Our Content and Accessibility Coordinator position exists to develop, plan, implement, and coordinate content writing and accessibility strategies, procedures, and activities for TRA to ensure stakeholders are well informed. The incumbent hired into this role applies TRA brand and editorial standards, communication strategies, principles, practices, laws, and rules to write and edit both digital and print communications content, including content for correspondence, websites, forms, publications, letters, and marketing materials.

The incumbent will serve as the agency’s digital accessibility coordinator and analyzes digital accessibility requirements and coordinates the integration of accessibility improvements into TRA communications. Additionally, the incumbent will work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, including all TRA staff, third-party vendors, consultants, and other collaborative partners in supporting TRA’s communication and digital strategy.

This position is located in our St. Paul, Minnesota office and will require the incumbent to work a schedule that includes in-person work. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time for this role.

Three (3) years of progressive organizational communication experience in developing printed and digital publications; creating web content; conceptualizing, writing, and editing copy; and/or implementing digital accessibility standards.

A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a closely related field can substitute for one (1) year of experience.

• Proven experience in website content editing, content management systems (such as Drupal), and translating complex technical information into plain language for diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of and the ability to implement accessibility guidelines and requirements, such as Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and/or other related state/federal accessibility guideline standards.
