Position Summary

The Digital Preservation and Partnership Coordinator supports AEDS's digital preservation and community archiving work at the African Museum Arts and Cultural Center. This role is the organizational hub for a collaborative planning initiative involving AEDS and six African cultural community organizations across Minnesota, working together to develop a shared digital archive of African Minnesotan history and heritage.

This is a coordination and relationship-focused position. The Coordinator keeps the work moving by managing schedules, facilitating communication among partners, supporting a contracted technical consultant, and handling the administrative and documentation tasks that keep a multi-organization initiative on track.

Key Responsibilities Project and Schedule Coordination
  • Manage the project workplan and keep timelines, tasks, and deadlines organized and current.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, workshops, and training sessions with internal staff, community partners, and the contracted consultant.
  • Prepare agendas, take notes, and follow up on action items after meetings.
  • Maintain organized project files and correspondence.
  • Assist in museum program and exhibition coordination
Partner and Community Engagement
  • Serve as the day-to-day liaison with partner community organizations, building and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Coordinate partner participation in planning workshops and advisory committee meetings.
  • Handle logistics for partner honoraria and stipend distribution.
  • Communicate clearly and responsively across diverse cultural and organizational contexts.
Consultant and Apprentice Support
  • Serve as the primary staff contact for the contracted Digital Preservation & Archiving Planning Consultant, coordinating their access to partners, materials, and meetings.
  • Support scheduling and logistics for consultant-led training workshops and planning sessions.
  • Coordinate involvement of AEDS youth digital media apprentices in project activities and track their participation and stipends.
General Administration
  • Keep project files, records, and shared documents organized and up to date.
  • Track timesheets and support basic documentation needs as directed by the project director.
  • Communicate regularly with the project director to flag updates, issues, or anything that needs attention.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, cultural studies, public administration, museum studies, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in project coordination, program administration, or a closely related role, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage schedules and deadlines, and keep projects organized.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across diverse cultural and organizational contexts.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage several responsibilities at once without things falling through the cracks.
  • Commitment to cultural humility and to the histories and experiences of African immigrant and diasporic communities.
  • Comfort with standard office and project management tools (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with or within African immigrant, diaspora, or heritage communities in Minnesota.
  • Familiarity with digital archiving, documentation, or preservation concepts.
  • Experience with nonprofit reporting, funder documentation, or compliance-related administrative work.
  • Experience in a museum, cultural center, or community archive setting.
  • Proficiency in one or more African languages spoken by partner communities.
Working Conditions

This position is based primarily at AMACC in Saint Paul, with regular coordination with partner organizations across the Twin Cities. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be needed for community events and partner meetings.

12 months, with possibility of continuation

African Economic Development Solutions (AEDS) is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) based in the Twin Cities that supports African immigrant and diaspora entrepreneurs through capital access, business development, and technical assistance. AEDS oversees the African Museum Arts and Cultural Center (AMACC), a cultural hub in Saint Paul's Little Africa district that produces exhibitions, artist residencies, and public programs celebrating African and African diasporic heritage.
