Job Title: Major Gift Officer

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Status: Full time Regular

Location: St. Paul, MN

Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, some weekends and evenings as needed

Pay Range: $65,000 to $75,000 per year

POSITION SUMMARY:At the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Major Gift Officer is primarily responsible for raising funds from individual donors who give or have the capacity to give at the major gift level ($10,000) to support the mission of UGMTC.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Portfolio of 150 major donors and prospects, intentionally cultivating them towards their best philanthropic gift and serving as a liaison between UGMTC and the donor.
  • Creates and maintains individualized moves management plans for each assigned donor, including specific fundraising and cultivation goals.
  • Works through the donor cycle with selected prospects from identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records of all donors and donor prospect interactions in database.
  • Speaks and writes clearly, professionally and persuasively in all interactions, representing the mission, vision and values of UGMTC
  • Makes stewardship outreaches, provides tours, performs occasional solicitations, and responds to questions regarding UGMTC’s mission, programs and services from donors outside managed portfolio.
  • Represents UGMTC at donor and community events.
  • Maintains co-operative relationships and communication with other departments to ensure access and positive experiences for UGMTC residents and support achievement of program objectives.
  • Represents the values and ethics of UGMTC when interacting with donors, residents, staff, guests, visitors, and the community and foundations.
  • At any time, with or without notice, perform other duties and activities as assigned.
MINIMUM

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 3-5 years of development experience
  • Experience in human services preferred
  • Non-profit experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including day and evening shifts
  • Experience or desire to work with underserved communities and people experiencing homelessness or poverty
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrated ability to submit proposals and make face-to-face asks for philanthropic support.
  • Strong knowledge of major gift and donor fundraising practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex work assignment; strong detail-orientation, follow-through, high level of initiative, timeliness, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with the confidence to make administrative and procedural judgments and decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both cooperatively in a team environment and independently using sound judgement and resourcefulness.
  • Able to manage confidential information with high integrity.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software, Salesforce, UGMTC’s Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system, and other business-related software and applications.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems, processes, and procedures.
