Job Details
• Work setting is an acute care teaching hospital with a Level 3 trauma designation and 317 staffed beds,
• Position is in the Labor & Delivery unit with a high-risk patient population,
• Patient ratio is 1:1,
• Facility performs 200-300 births per month,
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM,
• Every other weekend is required,
• No on-call responsibilities,
• Floating is required within scope, including to the postpartum unit and potentially to nearby affiliate hospitals,
• Block scheduling is not available,
• Charting system is Epic (Excellian); experience is required,
• 16-week contract,
Job Requirements
• Active MN RN license required; pending license will be accepted,
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required,
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP,
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Intermediate and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM),
• Proficiency with Epic/Excellian EMR is required,
• Experience with high-risk antepartum and L&D procedures including C-sections, PPTLs, D&Cs, cerclage placement and removal, and waterbirth,
• Experience with fetal monitoring (internal and external), IUPC placement, spiral electrode placement, and recognition of abnormal FHR patterns,
• Experience managing high-risk conditions including pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa/abruptio, VBAC, preterm labor, multiple gestation, and postpartum hemorrhage,
• Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, antihypertensives, and prostaglandins,
• Neonatal resuscitation and newborn assessment skills required,
• 1 supervisor reference required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,
• Responsibilities include assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, triage of obstetric patients, NSTs, amnioinfusion, and postpartum care,
• Neonatal care duties include APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, /security banding, and neonatal resuscitation,
• Surgical case experience expected for cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation procedures,
• Pre-start modules are required and must be completed before the first day; transcripts will be recorded,
• RTO requests of no more than 5 days are preferred for this assignment,
• Scrubs are provided by the unit,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Candidates who have previously worked at this health system as permanent staff or per diem must have been away for at least 3 months from their last shift worked,
• Fingerprinting is required as a Minnesota state mandate; results can take 1 day to 3-4 weeks and must be on file before the start date,
