Overview
At Children’s Minnesota PICU in St. Paul Campus, an interdisciplinary team of intensivists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, social workers and case managers provides care for children with life-changing critical diagnoses. The unit cares for children with acute and chronic neurological and respiratory illnesses, post-surgical recovery, severe infections, and failure of one or more organ systems. The PICU is a 12-bed unit focused on patient care along the continuum of acute recovery, with a family-centered approach and emphasis on teamwork and professional growth.
PositionSummary
The patient care manager (PCM) has overall responsibility for ensuring that services and programs provided through their assigned department/unit are child- and family-focused, clinically appropriate, operationally efficient, and achieve effective patient outcomes. The PCM will directly manage RN staff and assist in leadership of clinical support staff.
License/Certification/Registration- Active RN on Minnesota Board of Nursing required
- Current BLS required
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required
- 3+ years of people leadership experience or advanced degree in nursing leadership in lieu of experience
- Informal leadership experience is preferred (charge RN, clinical educator, preceptor, etc.)
- Fundamental understanding of the business side of the assigned department/unit (P&L, finance, budget, etc.)
- Availability for on-call and off-hours rotations/situations as decided by department/unit
- Desired characteristics: strategic thinker, collaborative, seeks to understand, embraces continuous improvement, navigates through change, calm demeanor, positive attitude

Compensation and BenefitsThe posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates, factors include market indicators, skills, education, credentials and experience; internal equity and organizational needs. In addition to salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
