Schedule:
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Full‑time, exempt, on‑site.
Grade 37: $91,769.60 to $ annually ($44.12 to $61.75 per hour). 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidays. Job Duties and Responsibilities- Support and oversee daily operations of Correctional Health Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses in providing direct and indirect nursing care to meet inmates’ psychological, physical, and mental health needs.
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to correctional health nurses on the unit to ensure daily medical needs and staffing requirements are met.
- Conduct trainings and in‑services.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and care coordination meetings.
- Oversee and manage staff scheduling; accurately review and approve nursing hours.
- Ensure accurate data gathering and patient records.
- Monitor nursing care through direct observation and review of medication records, nursing notes, and other pertinent information.
- Develop and implement unit service standards, policies, and procedures.
- Remain current on program‑related legislation, rules, regulations and impacts on services.
- Develop performance measurement and quality improvement processes and provide ongoing quality improvement of care by participating in meetings with correctional staff, department administration, contracted agencies and vendors.
- Collaborate with internal and external medical service providers.
- Implement processes that ensure complete patient records and data collection.
- Maintain infection prevention and control practices.
- Assist in monitoring environmental safety, including sharps counts and hazardous materials handling.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing or a related field and three years (2,080 annual hours) of job‑related experience. - Registration as a professional nurse in the state of Minnesota.
- Successful completion of a background investigation.
- Preferred:
One or more years of supervisory experience. - Preferred:
Prior work experience in correctional health, triage, primary care clinics, emergency room, or hospital setting.
Standard office environment, correctional and detention institutions, field offices, courtrooms, hospitals, schools, and various community settings. Work involves contact with uncooperative or hostile clients, several hours of varied physical activity, standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, handling medical equipment, and lifting up to 25 lbs routinely, occasionally up to 50 lbs. Exposure to bodily fluids, infectious agents, toxic chemicals, airborne particles, fumes, or other hazards is possible.
