Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations and works under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results.
- Notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility in accordance with SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support the Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats within the local community in accordance with EHS or Medical Affairs.
- Be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment and provide center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
- High‑school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate‑equivalent recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned (LPN or LVN).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- State‑required basic IV therapy certification.
- Successfully completed FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

USA – MN – Saint Paul
Hourly wage range: $26.88 – $36.96 per hour. The actual wage offered may depend on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and the location of the position.
