Regions Hospital is hiring a compassionate, collaborative, and committed Nursing Assistant to join our Float Pool. The Float Pool supplements peaks in unit census above core unit staff capacity and covers units that inpatient staff may not be comfortable caring for. As a Nursing Assistant you will receive 2‑3 weeks of training with our nursing education team to learn our electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills, restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills.
Working with the nursing team allows you to use technical and interpersonal skills to positively impact the care and overall experience our patients receive.
Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), providing patient care treatments such as discontinuing IVs, monitoring restraints, and collecting patient vitals, weights, and intake & output; regularly collecting specimens like urine, stool, and finger‑stick blood glucose at the direction of the nurse; responding to patient call lights and requests; communicating with patients and visitors; assisting nurses with procedures;
and documenting and charting in our electronic health system.
Work Schedule/FTE: .7 FTE (28 hours per week) working days (7am-3:30pm), evenings (3pm-11:30pm), or a combination; requires work every other weekend and holiday.
Required Qualifications- Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program (may include MN Registry listing)
- Experience in an acute care or long‑term care setting as a Nursing Assistant and/or Emergency Room Technician (minimum 6 months at 0.5 FTE)
- Completion of one clinical rotation in an RN or LPN program within the past 12 months
- A current Basic Life Support CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Experience or nursing assistant education within the last five (5) years
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting
- Nursing assistant certification
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
