Department Overview

The pediatric emergency department at Children’s Minnesota St.Paul hospital is a 32‑bed, LevelIV trauma center that specializes in the assessment and stabilization of acute pediatric illness, injury, and trauma. The multidisciplinary team of more than 150 pediatric professionals cares for over 45,000 patients a year and is staffed with board‑certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, pediatric nurse practitioners, and certified pediatric emergency registered nurses.

Position

Summary

Coordinates and provides family‑centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members.

Qualifications

THIS IS AN MNA CONTRACT POSITION.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Minnesota RN licensure.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • One (1) year current (within the last 2 years) ED experience.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required or obtained during orientation.
  • Proof of active ENPC upon hire or completion of Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) during orientation required.
  • Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required or obtained during orientation.
  • Based upon the unit in which you are applying, additional certification(s) may be required. Department specific required qualifications need to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • An informational meeting with the Patient Care Manager is required prior to awarding the position.

Salary and Benefits

The posted salary represents a market‑competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full‑time employment (40 standard hours per week). In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on‑call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.

All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I‑9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
