Job Description

As an accessioner, you will be responsible for receiving, logging, and preparing samples for laboratory analysis. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals seeking to start or grow a career in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

* Meet couriers to receive samples from various locations, both nationally and internationally, and initiate the tracking process.

* Verify the integrity and condition of samples upon arrival, inspect for damage, and manage packaging disposal.

* Operate multiple computer software systems to process sample data, ensuring the correct application of each system to specific samples.

* Ensure that sample names match the requisitions and handle primarily urine samples, alongside some blood, serum, plasma, and body fluids.

* Create and apply labels to samples after data entry into the systems.

* Sometimes aliquot samples, centrifuge, or freeze them to maintain stability as required.

* Manage the workflow for sample maintenance at intervals of 3, 6, and 12 months in walk-in refrigerators and freezers.

Essential Skills

* High School Diploma, preferably with some science coursework.

* Intermediate computer skills, including typing and 10-key proficiency.

* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

* High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

* Capability to work in a fast-paced, production environment.

Work Environment

Work in a fast-paced, production-type environment within the medical laboratory industry. The role involves processing between 5, samples daily, providing a vital component of medical laboratory science. The position includes on-the-job training, supporting career growth within the medical laboratory sector. The opening is for the 2nd shift, from 5 pm to 1:30 am, Tuesday through Saturday.

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.52 - $19.52/hr.
