Quality Engineer
This role supports the implementation and ongoing improvement of CAS kitting and related products and processes as they transition into a new manufacturing environment. The Quality Engineer ensures compliance with external certifications, strengthens quality systems, and drives continuous improvement across products, processes, and suppliers. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to maintain high quality standards, resolve issues, and support risk and change management activities.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of CAS kitting and other products and processes as they transition into the new manufacturing environment.
- Support auditing processes to ensure compliance with external certifications required for CAS, including UL, CSA, ISO, and related standards.
- Lead documentation editing, processing, implementation, and change management using established quality systems.
- Develop, complete, and implement process control plans and quality assurance plans to ensure consistent product and process performance.
- Assist with all CAS Production Part Approval Processes (PPAPs), including compiling documentation and contributing technical input as needed.
- Represent the quality function on cross-functional teams, projects, and initiatives that impact the CAS business.
- Assist with the investigation and resolution of customer complaints and internal nonconformances (NCRs), including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Establish, drive, and monitor effective corrective action plans (CAPAs) to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
- Provide assistance and guidance to suppliers to ensure timely resolution and elimination of supplier-related quality issues.
- Assist in providing training on CAS products and processes to internal stakeholders as needed.
- Track and report quality metrics, analyze trends, and contribute to actions that improve product and process quality.
- Apply quality engineering tools and methods, such as root cause analysis and risk management, to support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering, Quality, or another technical field.
- 2+ years of work experience as a quality or reliability engineer in an ISO, UL, CSA, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience in quality engineering and quality assurance within a manufacturing setting.
- Hands-on experience with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
- Experience with root cause analysis for resolving quality issues and nonconformances.
- Experience with supplier quality activities, including working with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
- Basic knowledge of ISO and similar or related standards such as UL or CSA.
- Understanding of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), PPAP, and other risk management processes and tools.
- Familiarity with key quality subsystems, including CAPA, Training, Documentation and Change Control, Management Controls, Product and Process Controls, and/or Design Controls.
- Ability to support and participate in audits for compliance with external certifications.
- Strong documentation skills, including editing, processing, and managing changes within established quality systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic Lean or Six Sigma principles.
- Willingness to work toward ASQ (American Society for Quality) certification, with support provided.
- Experience tracking, reporting, and interpreting quality metrics.
- Experience participating in cross-functional teams and projects.
- Strong communication skills to support training and collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
The role operates within a regulated manufacturing environment that adheres to ISO, UL, CSA, and related standards. The Quality Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams across operations, engineering, and supply chain, and regularly interacts with suppliers to address and prevent quality issues. The position involves working with established quality systems that include CAPA, training, documentation and change control, management controls, and product and process controls.
The environment emphasizes continuous improvement, structured risk management practices such as FMEA and PPAP, and the consistent use of quality metrics to drive decisions. Professional attire appropriate for a manufacturing and office setting is expected, with adherence to any site-specific safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Bear Lake, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $50.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
