Lead Quality Inspector
A medical device client of ours is seeking an experienced Lead Quality Inspector to oversee the day-to-day flow of the inspection function while serving as a mentor and technical resource to the Quality Inspection team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet quality requirements before release.
The ideal candidate brings strong inspection experience within a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical devices, along with a coaching mindset and the ability to prioritize work, delegate responsibilities, and support continuous improvement within the department.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the Inspection Department.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to a team of Quality Control Technicians.
- Manage inspection priorities and workflow to ensure timely processing of incoming materials and finished products.
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on medical device products and components.
- Conduct final quality reviews of inspection documentation prior to product release.
- Verify lot traceability, product identification, labeling, and supporting documentation.
- Inspect raw materials including pouches, cartons, implant components, and other product materials.
- Inspect finished goods, including sterile packaged products and instrument tray assemblies.
- Utilize hand measurement tools such as calipers and other inspection equipment to verify product conformance.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection checklists.
- Apply Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) standards and accurately identify major and minor defects.
- Ensure all inspection records are complete, accurate, and compliant with quality system requirements.

- Education:
Associate degree in a technical, manufacturing, engineering, or related field or Quality inspection certification (ASQ, CQI, CQT, or equivalent) - Minimum of 5 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience performing incoming, in-process, and final product inspections.
- Proficiency using inspection tools such as calipers and other measuring devices.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Working knowledge of AQL methodologies, defect classification, and sampling plans.
- Experience reviewing quality documentation and ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to organize workloads, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple inspection activities simultaneously.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, coaching-oriented approach.
