About the Job
The University of Minnesota's Masonic Institute on the Biology of Aging and Metabolism is an interdisciplinary team aimed at advancing research on the fundamental biology of aging. Our goal is to discover ways to therapeutically target aging, which will extend healthspan.
Primary responsibilities:
- Sample prep and analysis for flow cytometry or Western blot
- Cell culture, including differentiation of bone marrow derived macrophages
- Independent data analysis and presentation of final results
- Keep detailed records of all experiments and procedures in laboratory notebooks, databases, spreadsheets, and web‑based applications.
- Experiment preparation including reagent or buffer prep, and labeling.
- Follow established biological, chemical and physical safety procedures.
- General organization or cleaning tasks.
- Requires the ability to work occasional weekend hours.
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree or a combination of education and experience that equals 4 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in tissue culture work.
- Good interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; comfort working in a team.
- Excellence in organizational skills.
Pay Range: $15.25/hr, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
This is a temporary position, less than 3 months, not eligible for benefits.
