Lab Technician
Job Description
The Lab Technician supports the research and development and technical teams by developing, modifying, and testing products for the electronics market. This role focuses on chemical batch making, laboratory testing, and formulation work to help bring new products from concept to commercialization while meeting marketing, customer, and project targets. The technician works closely with a collaborative team of scientists and will receive training on complex testing methods that support a wide range of electronics applications, including consumer and automotive electronics.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare and test chemical batches for laboratory development samples, following established procedures and specifications.
+ Support the development and introduction of new products, including assisting in commercialization activities and the development of application methods.
+ Work primarily with polyurethane technologies while gaining exposure to additional chemistries such as UV systems, acrylics, and epoxies.
+ Formulate or modify adhesive samples to meet specific project, market, or customer requirements.
+ Measure and evaluate the quality of samples using standard and customer-specific benchtop, analytical, and physical testing techniques.
+ Document project progress using project management methodologies and maintain accurate laboratory records.
+ Assist with general laboratory safety and housekeeping duties, including adherence to safety guidelines and 5S principles.
+ Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment in shared spaces.
+ Troubleshoot issues related to sample preparation, batch making, and material testing as they arise.
+ Collaborate closely with scientists and technical team members to support multiple electronics market segments and technologies.
Essential Skills
+ Associate degree in a scientific discipline such as Materials Science or Chemistry, or equivalent hands-on experience with material testing, sample preparation, and mixing raw materials.
+ Experience managing or running a project independently or with minimal support.
+ Hands-on experience with high-precision (4-digit) balances for accurate weighing and measurement.
+ Proficiency using mixing devices such as overhead mixers, high shear mixers, and speed mixers.
+
Experience with mixture or batch preparation, including solvent-based or non-solvent-based systems.
+ Familiarity with polyurethane technologies and strong interest in working with adhesives and related chemistries.
+ Ability to perform benchtop, analytical, and physical testing to evaluate material and product performance.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control in laboratory work.
+ Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working with acrylics, epoxies, and urethanes is highly preferred.
+ Background in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related scientific field.
+
Experience with sample preparation, material testing, and troubleshooting in a laboratory setting.
+ Familiarity with project documentation and basic project management methodologies.
+ Comfort working in a collaborative, cross-functional R&D environment.
+ Willingness to learn complex testing techniques and new technologies under the guidance of senior scientists.
Work Environment
This role supports the EA Americas team, which serves multiple market segments and technologies within the electronics space, including small consumer electronics such as computers, phones, and watches, as well as automotive electronics. The lab environment uses high-precision balances, overhead mixers, high shear mixers, speed mixers, and a variety of benchtop, analytical, and physical testing equipment. The team culture is highly collaborative, with open communication and a strong focus on continuous learning and skill development.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
