Position: R&D Technician I

Title:R&D Technician/Intern
Location:St Paul MN(100% Onsite)
Duration: 6+ Months
Shift Time:8am to 5pm
Pay Range: $21/hr to $25/hr (On W2)

We are looking for a “R&D Technician/Intern” to join one of our Fortune 500 clients.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Entry‑level technical role supporting development of simulated use models and test systems for medical device R&D.
  • Works under guidance of engineers to translate design inputs and clinical needs into physical models and testing setups.
  • Model Fabrication & Prototyping
  • Operate 3D printers and post‑process printed components (cleaning, finishing) to build simulated use models.
  • Operate power tools and machining equipment (mill, lathe, saws) to manufacture and assemble models.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes to expand internal model development capabilities.
  • Design & Engineering Support
  • Learn and apply 3D modeling software (Solid Works) under guidance of R&D engineers.
  • Use Solid Works for basic model design and to generate print specifications.
  • Iterate prototypes based on feedback from test results and engineering teams.
  • Clinical Relevance & Testing
  • Understand clinical relevance to ensure simulated use models reflect design inputs and user needs.
  • Support simulated use testing and evaluation activities.
  • Operations & Documentation
  • Complete purchase requisitions and coordinate procurement of components from third‑party vendors.
  • Use basic computer tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation, data capture, and reporting.
  • Maintain lab organization, equipment readiness, and material inventory
  • Biological Material Handling
  • Work with explanted animal and human organs in controlled, compliant environments.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical technology, or related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience in prototyping, machining, or lab‑based technical work.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and procedural discipline.
  • Experience with 3D printing technologies and materials.
  • Familiarity with Solid Works or similar CAD tools.
  • Exposure to medical device development, simulated use testing, or clinical environments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Combination of machine shop, lab, and office settings.
  • Requires adherence to safety, biohazard, and quality protocols when handling equipment and biological materials.
  • Quality, accuracy, and usability of fabricated models.
  • Turnaround time for prototype builds and test readiness.
  • Ability to maintain clinical relevance and engineering fidelity in models.
