The researcher will lead mouse experiments involving measurement of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and/or blood flow in the brain. These experiments will probe how such fluid flow changes under different conditions and/or due to different therapeutic interventions. This work is very impactful, as it likely has implications for how to prevent neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease.

This is a 50% part‑time temporary posted position that will end on August 31, 2027. It is an in‑person position on the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities East Bank campus.

Visa Language: This position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship and does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Mouse experiments (50%): Under the general guidance of the PI and in collaboration with senior members of the lab, the researcher will perform experiments with assistance from undergraduate research assistants and may also assist graduate students/postdocs. Responsibilities include animal preparation, surgery, imaging, and associated procedures.

Data analysis (20%): Generate visualizations of imaging data, perform quantitative measurements using image analysis techniques (primarily in Matlab), and apply statistical analysis.

Report preparation (10%): Prepare slides for weekly group meetings, figures for publications, and may contribute to other documents (annual reports, grant proposals, etc.).

Lab management duties (15%): Survey laboratory stock of surgical supplies and experimental consumables, order as needed, assist with experimental scheduling, and mentor undergraduate researchers.

Other duties as assigned (5%): Other tasks as required.

Required qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in Neuroscience, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience of at least four years.
• Hands‑on experience with mouse experiments, familiarity with two‑photon imaging and/or epifluorescent imaging, and coding experience in MATLAB.

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a research lab.

Pay Range: $20.26 - $26.45 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.

Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor‑Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
