About the Job

Position summary:

The Cardiovascular Research and Rehabilitation Laboratory is seeking to hire a qualified staff scientist to join our research team. This role is ideal for individuals with expertise in menopause and autonomic nervous system function and a keen interest in clinical research.

Responsibilities:

Research (65%):

  • Lead study visits to quantify autonomic and vascular function.
  • Perform gold-standard techniques such as microneurography and flow-mediated dilation.
  • Accurately enter data into study worksheets and REDCap.
  • Operate ultrasound and data acquisition software for autonomic and vascular data.
  • Independently troubleshoot equipment and software problems that may arise.
  • Train new lab members and volunteers on the use of equipment and software.

Data collection and analysis (25%):

  • Collect and analyze data using software programs such as Lab Chart and Microsoft Excel, as well as custom programs.
  • Enter data accurately into lab-maintained spreadsheets and REDCap sites; analyze and interpret results.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot issues with data organization and management.
  • Use data collected during research studies to generate abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.

Laboratory education and project management (10%):

  • Serve as a content expert on perimenopause and menopause in journal clubs and lab meetings.
  • Generate plans for participant recruitment and retention, such as through facilitation of lab attendance at community events.
  • Develop community-facing educational materials related to lab research topics.
  • Assist with maintenance of participant enrollment status, scheduling, and follow-up.
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree plus at least four years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least eight years.
  • Strong interest in clinical research
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD
  • Preferred experience in autonomic function testing
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $29.93 to 36.60 per hour, we anticipate most offers will be around the midpoint of this range, depending on education and experience.

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment (30 hours per week)
