Retail Associate and Professional Shoe Fitter; Part-time

Overview

Grand Jeté, the dance apparel store on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul, is seeking applicants for our Retail Associate position. We proudly provide personalized service for the Minnesota and Upper Midwest dancing communities, specializing in pointe shoe fittings for ballet dancers. We are working hard to serve dancers from all styles, experiences, ages, and body types. We are a small, close-knit team hoping to find someone who will enjoy working in such an environment.

• Assist customers with shoe fittings, find apparel that works for their needs, problem-solve with customers on service or product issues, receive inventory shipments, set up store displays, recommend new products, learn about local dance organizations, strategize with team members on ways to improve our services and environment, check out customers, take phone orders, fulfill web orders and other activities as the shift requires.
• Retail Associates report to the Store Manager.

• Have significant experience in one or more dance styles and an interest in learning a lot about dance shoes and apparel.
• Have a talent for providing good customer service and creating a welcoming environment.
• Are professional, detail-oriented, communicative, good at creative problem-solving, and willing to be flexible as issues come up during a shift.
• Have a willingness to work with customers’ feet for shoe fittings.
• Have Saturday (9:45-5:30) availability and some weekday availability (10am-3pm and/or 3pm-8pm).
• Can reach near the floor and shelves at 5.5 feet, climb on a step stool to reach higher, move around the store for the entire shift, and occasionally lift 30 lb.
• Are comfortable working with computers and other technologies given training, including, but not limited to, Lightspeed POS, Microsoft Office 365 online, and barcode scanners.

• Have experience with pointe shoes or extensive ballet training.
• Have previous retail or customer service work experience.
• Have experience in dance styles not currently represented on staff.
• Have consistent Saturday availability.

$15.50/hourly base salary; 10-20 hours a week depending on availability
