Retail Associate and Professional Shoe Fitter; Part-time

Grand Jeté, the dance apparel store on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul, is seeking applicants for a Retail Associate position. We proudly provide personalized service for the Minnesota and Upper Midwest dancing communities, with a specialization in pointe shoe fittings for ballet dancers. We are committed to serving dancers of all styles, experience levels, ages, and body types.

We are a small, close-knit team and are looking for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and takes pride in thoughtful, detail-oriented customer service.

Retail Associates at Grand Jeté spend their shifts working directly with customers and supporting the overall flow of the store. This includes providing knowledgeable, welcoming service; assisting with shoe fittings and apparel selection; and contributing to an organized, inviting retail environment.

Retail Associates report to the Store Manager and work closely with teammates to problem-solve, improve our services, and support the local dance community.

Grand Jeté is seeking longer-term team members
, not seasonal or summer-only employees. While new Retail Associates may train during the summer, we are specifically looking for someone who plans to continue working with us into the fall and beyond.

This role is best suited for someone who:

• Can train during the summer and
• Has regular availability during the fall dance season, especially September and October
• Is interested in building skills and growing with our team over time

Retail Associates may spend their shifts on activities including, but not limited to:

• Assisting customers with dance shoe fittings (including pointe shoes) and apparel selection
• Problem-solving with customers on service or product issues
• Receiving and processing inventory shipments
• Setting up and maintaining store displays
• Learning about new products and making recommendations
• Checking out customers and taking phone orders
• Fulfilling web orders
• Learning about and engaging with local dance organizations
• Collaborating with team members on ways to improve our services and store environment
• Supporting other retail tasks as needed during the shift

• Have significant experience in one or more dance styles and an interest in learning about dance shoes and apparel
• Enjoy providing thoughtful, patient customer service and creating a welcoming environment
• Are professional, communicative, detail-oriented, and comfortable problem-solving as issues arise
• Are flexible and able to shift tasks as needed during a busy retail shift
• Are willing to work directly with customers’ feet during shoe fittings
• Have consistent Saturday availability (9:45am-5:30pm) and some weekday availability
  (10am-3pm and/or 3pm-8pm),
  including availability during the fall season

• Ability to reach near the floor and shelves up to 5.5 feet
• Ability to climb a step stool to reach shelves up to 8 feet.
• Ability to move around the store for the entire shift
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
• Comfort working with computers and technology given training, including:
  • Lightspeed POS
  • Microsoft Office 365 (online)
  • Barcode scanners

• Have experience with pointe shoes or extensive ballet training
• Have prior retail or customer service experience
• Have experience in dance styles not currently represented on staff

• $15.50/hour base pay
• 10-20 hours per week
