*** This posting will be used to fill two (2) vacancies located in the St. Paul office. **
* This temporary position is located in the Environmental Analysis & Groundwater Services Unit and exists to provide specific technical skills and assistance to professional staff conducting well sampling as part of the Ambient Groundwater Monitoring Network. This position will assist professional staff with sample collection, data entry, regular equipment cleaning and maintenance, as well as other support to be determined. Most fieldwork will be completed in a normal 8-hour workday from the St.
Paul office. A few overnight trips are also possible.
** Minimum Qualifications*
* Post-secondary education student working on an environmental degree or related degree.
(To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in high school or in a post-secondary or graduate program.
If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas including F-1 STEM OPT extensions. ** Preferred Qualifications*
* Coursework in environmental science, hydrology, water resources, geology, geomorphology, or water quality
Coursework or familiarity with maps or Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Coursework or familiarity with common databases and the use of spreadsheets
Ability to work in a team environment yet independently when needed
Good communication skills
** Physical Requirements*
* Must be physically able to perform field work associated with monitoring projects. This may include loading/unloading vehicles with field equipment, carrying equipment to sites, and collecting water samples from monitoring wells. Frequently will need to lift and carry approximately 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds over land. Capable of mild physical exertion in in all weather, including extreme cold, rainfall, and summer heat and sun.
** Additional Requirements*
* A driver's license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver's License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver's license AND a satisfactory DLR check.
