** JOB SUMMARY
** This is a 4-week contract position that will assist the Anthropology Department in laboratory and field work associated with our burial recovery and repatriation projects.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Perform archaeological survey and excavation.
* Inventory, catalog, and analyze archaeological material.
* Assist with report production.
* Assist with documentary and archival research.
* Follows all Hamline University policies, procedures and protocols.
* All other duties as requested.
** REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
** This position reports to the:  Archaeology Supervisor This position does not supervise other employees.

This position does not supervise student workers.
** BUDGET MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
** This position is responsible for the following budget:  None Budget Range:
This position is not responsible for the management of a budget.
** REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES
*** Experience with archaeological field and laboratory procedures and terminology.
* Experience performing archaeological field work.
* Ability to work with sensitive and confidential records and data.
* Experience and sensitivity in working with Native American communities.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google, and Google Apps.
** MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
*** Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology or related field.
* Archaeological Field School.
** PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
*** Familiarity with the archaeology of Minnesota.
* Experience with artifact identification and analysis.
* Experience completing site forms.
* Experience with artifact illustration or photography.
* Experience writing technical reports.
* Experience with mapping and GIS hardware and software.
** REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
*** None required
** WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT
*** Ability to lift at least 40 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
* Must be in good physical condition and have experience performing outdoor work under a variety of conditions with or without a reasonable accommodation.
* Ability to work an on-call schedule.
* Ability to travel to on and off campus locations.
* Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

*** This is a part time, non-exempt, grant-funded position.
* This position may require travel within the state and overnight stays near work sites.
