This position requires a proactive professional who balances responsibilities in the Security Operations Center—monitoring advanced systems and coordinating communications—with an active presence throughout the site. The ideal candidate will be a vital part of incident response, skillfully and compassionately engaging with diverse communities, while also performing regular patrols, documenting activities, and protecting the museum’s assets.

This role is crucial for maintaining both a secure environment and a positive, welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor all building access, alarm, fire, and video management systems and equipment in the Security Operations Center; maintain awareness of all system-level events and respond accordingly.

Coordinate radio communications across all internal stakeholder groups; respond to roll call with St. Paul Downtown Improvement District’s Safety Communications Center.

Maintain an active presence in public areas to promote a positive visitor experience; observe and deter suspicious and disruptive activities; engage with the transient population directly and compassionately, provide local resource information; discretely elevate incidents to local public safety officials as necessary.

Respond to calls for first-aid and medical emergencies; provide basic life support (BLS) including CPR and use of AED, rapidly assess, and elevate to emergency responders.

Monitor vehicle and pedestrian flow around the property and at all secured entry points.

Perform regular patrols of site structures and property; identify and report risks and hazards that may result in injuries, disruption to business operations, damage or loss of critical structures, equipment, and assets.

Accurately and securely document all activities, including incident forms, end of shift reports, service logs, data requests, etc.

Conduct supply inventory and stocking, assist with maintaining equipment, hardware, and other unit assets.

Provide client related event and VIP services, including access control, vendor and visitor management, vehicle traffic control, etc.

May assist and/or lead active incident response (inclement weather, medical, loss prevention/theft, vandalism, lost child protocol, etc.).

Create, program, and issue identification badges; document and distribute building and vehicle keys.
