Team Lead​/Training Officer

AIP is looking for a Team Lead Training Officer to work in St. Paul, MN.

• The TLTO is responsible for the field supervision of Detention Officers.
• Provide supervision, guidance and on-the-job training to improve Detention Officer skills, reinforcing the critical nature of the Detention Officer’s responsibilities
• Responsible for assuring consistent delivery of service regardless of shift or location, for taking immediate action to correct problems detected and for responding whenever called upon.
• Briefs Detention Officers during muster and post checks regarding any changes in Post Orders, or any unusual or emergency situations.
• Conducts on-the-job training to correct deficiencies in Detention Officer Performance, or to strengthen and refresh Detention Officer knowledge of critical skills and issues.
• Reports any emergency to the PM and/or COR.
• Document incidents with complete and accurate verbal and written reports.
• Reviews the sign-in/out sheets to ensure proper timekeeping by Detention Officers.
• Manages break schedules and ensure that all Detention Officers receive breaks and proper relief.
• Provides oversight and management and direct reporting of detainee counts.
• Assist detention officers to deal with any incident of disturbance or lack of cooperation from a detainee.
• Inspect every area of the facility where detainees are present, at least once per shift.
• Responsible for the operational functions and duties required in operating a hold room/detention center; including detention, processing, administration and transportation operations as required in the contract.
• Provides effective leadership and supervision of all subordinate personnel.
• Schedules adequate staffing for all assigned posts and ensure that minimum manning standards are maintained.
• Ensure duties are accomplished as directed in the contract. Perform other duties as assigned.
• Inspires and motivates employees to perform duties to ensure contract compliance.
• Ensures Detention Officers are trained in the expectations and requirements of their duties.
• Provide timely and ongoing feedback to the PM on employee performance.
• Motivates and provides recognition to exemplary employees.
• Enforces ICE National Detention Standards, policies, procedures and orders related to custody, care and treatment of detainees in holding room facilities.
• Conducts daily quality assurance inspections of their areas of responsibility; including detention facilities, posts, equipment, uniforms and knowledge of post orders, ICE National Detention Standards and current policies, procedures and regulations of all subordinate contract personnel.
• Corrects discrepancies on-the-spot as appropriate.
• Responsible for the effective and efficient control, operation and security of the hold room/detention facility.
• Duties are performed in a hold room/detention facility environment, working with a wide variety of people from different cultures, backgrounds and speaking various languages, while performing multiple functions.
• Armed Detention Officers are responsible for guarding and safeguarding non-citizen detainees and the general public at government buildings in either custodial or court settings.
• Qualify on a standard course of fire twice yearly and up to four times annually if required.
• Completes all training, basic and annual refresher, maintain an appropriate level of fitness and continually meet all job requirements throughout the contract life span.
• Performs duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of detainees as required by the contract.
• Exercises surveillance and control over detainees and maintains order and discipline.
• Makes official entries in the processing logbooks that are legible and complete.
• Conducts security and sanitation checks of the area.
• When required, duty carry one of the authorized intermediate weapons.
• Intermediate weapons should be used in accordance with Service approved Use of Force policy.
• Ensures that the communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery.
• Inspects, maintains, and cares for authorized equipment.
• Qualify with a company issued semi-automatic pistol with appropriate duty belt and magazines.
• Successfully complete all assigned training including defensive tactics and course requiring a minimum physical stamina.
• Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
• Follows company-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in the Officer Handbook and other Company Safety Policies.
• Ability to obtain an armed state security guard license from the state of Minnesota or Nebraska.
• One year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections experience demonstrating the following:
