Koch Companies is looking for a skilled Diesel Technician II to join our Koch National Lease team. In this role, you’ll perform advanced preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and complex repairs on both tractor and trailer units. You’ll ensure all work meets DOT, state, federal, and company standards while maintaining accurate maintenance records and supporting inventory control. This position also plays a key role in developing junior technicians through on‑the‑job training.

Location: St. Paul, MN

Shift Available: Monday–Friday 3:30 PM–12:00 AM (2nd Shift)

Hiring Range: $29.00 - $31.00/hr (commensurate with experience) + $5.00 /hour shift differential

What You’ll Be Doing Daily

  • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and advanced repairs on tractors and trailers
  • Ensuring all work complies with DOT, state, federal, and company standards
  • Troubleshooting and repairing systems across broad categories, including:
    • Powertrain and driveline
    • Suspension, steering, and braking (air and hydraulic)
    • Electrical and electronic systems, including ABS and collision mitigation
    • HVAC and cooling systems
    • Aftertreatment and exhaust systems
    • Liftgate systems (electrical, hydraulic, fabrication)
    • Reefer systems
    • Roll up door components
    • APU systems
  • Completing general repairs using hand tools, jacks, hoists, and specialized equipment
  • Reading and interpreting manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Ordering necessary parts and supporting inventory management

    Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Providing on the job training to junior technicians and helpers
  • Making warranty recommendations and documenting all work accurately

What You Bring to the Team

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of tractor maintenance experience
  • Ability to independently complete advanced repairs
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to safety

Preferred

  • Associate’s degree in Heavy Duty Truck Technology or related field
  • 3 or more years of tractor maintenance experience
  • Ability to independently complete advanced repairs

Knowledge and Skills to Be Successful

  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical troubleshooting abilities across tractor and trailer systems
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, computerized instrumentation, and maintenance documentation
  • ABS brake system certification
  • Eligibility for Minnesota State DOT inspector certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards
  • Ability to work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation

About the Role

The salary grade for this position ranges from $28.53 to $39.93/hr while offers will be based on experience and qualifications, the targeted hiring range for this role is $29.00 - $31.00/hr.
