In this position you will maintain, repair, and alter the data processing system connected to a group of state-owned buildings on the Capitol Complex in St. Paul. This processing system automates environmental controls, access control, security devices, video, intercom, fire protection, metering, and lighting control systems. This position also carries the responsibility of off‑duty callback if emergency conditions occur with the automation system or related auxiliary equipment.
Job Duties- Planning, installing, calibrating, configuring, maintaining, and repairing electronics equipment to maintain the operational status of the Capitol Complex integrated environmental, UL fire alarm, access control, security camera, emergency intercom, metering, and lighting systems.
- Ensuring proper operation of all fire alarms and audio systems in the state buildings on the Capitol Complex in the event of a fire or other emergency.
- Perform necessary routine functions to the Honeywell EBI Systems and remotes to ensure minimum downtime.
Minimum Qualifications
- Hold and maintain an Electrician license (Master, Journeyman, Power Limited, Maintenance, or Exempt Maintenance).
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Experience installing, maintaining, repairing, and programming environmental, security, and fire alarm control systems.
- Working knowledge of pneumatic fundamentals that interface with digital controls.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and outside vendors.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints sufficient to install and locate electrical/electronic equipment.
- Problem‑solving skills sufficient to diagnose and repair problems quickly and efficiently.
**** If the successful candidate does not currently hold a Power Limited Technician or higher license, they will be required to register as an unlicensed individual prior to hire and will perform work in accordance with M.S. 326B.33.
Preferred Qualifications- Vocational/technical degree in Electronics.
- Electronics experience with primary responsibility for the installation, operation, programming and maintenance of commercial security, environmental and fire alarm control systems.
Must pass pre‑employment physical: minimum light‑medium effort, able to lift 13‑21 lbs frequently, 100‑300 repetitions an hour.
