Job Summary
The Service Technician Vet delivers post‑sale services at customer sites, including setup, maintenance, and repair of products and services to ensure all function properly. This role performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on installed products, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving malfunctions. This role is also accountable for ensuring customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations that may favorably impact performance and providing user training on new products.
Responsibilities- Independently respond to assigned customer service calls; diagnose problems and safely remove, modify, repair, and install all core veterinary equipment with minimal supervision.
- Learn and follow manufacturer guidelines on the operation, repair, maintenance and installation of equipment.
- Inspect pre‑installed products for any defects or damages, and conduct final post‑installation inspections to ensure proper operation and compliance with manufacturer, Federal, and State regulations.
- Maintain strong customer relationships by providing technical support after initial installation of equipment, PC software, and hardware, and ensuring service commitments are met within standard response time.
- Verify compliance with manufacturer and Patterson guidelines, OSHA, and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain all required records, including service orders, confirmations, inventory, expense reports, time sheets, and equipment‑related items, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Comply with company and department policies and standards; perform other duties as assigned.
- Establish and maintain productive, mutually beneficial relationships with customers, vendors and colleagues.
- Inventory Management: determine parts, supplies or tools needed to complete service requests; manage vehicle inventory through regular restocking and audits.
- Personal/Vehicle Safety: maintain a quality driving record; schedule regular vehicle maintenance to ensure a safe fleet on the road.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of all company‑provided assets, including vehicles, phones, computers, parts, equipment, tools, and uniforms.
- Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent; 2 years of relevant work experience in mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, or electronic fields.
- Preferred Requirements: Trade school training in carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical or electronics; prior experience servicing and installing X‑ray equipment; SAP experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Thrive in an independent role with excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills; strong verbal and written communication; explain technical aspects to non‑technical audiences; basic computer skills and ability to use smartphones/tablets; proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Teams; respond to challenging situations positively.
- Driver's License (upon hire required).
- Certifications, Licensing or Registration as a Veterinary Technician.
The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting objects up to 50 lbs, driving, operating equipment, and occasional high‑force tasks. Tasks require consistent focus, hand‑eye coordination, and the ability to function in noisy or variable temperature environments.
Travel RequirementsThis position requires traveling to customer locations for service and support, including overnight travel.
Compensation$27.79 - $36.12 per hour (potentially more based on experience, location, and skills).
